Farm Accreditation -   Description

FARM ACCREDITATION SCHEME.

This scheme is designed to enable consumers to readily identify the product of farms that comply with the Associations published standards for free-range egg production.

Such farms will have been inspected by an appointed Independent Inspector to ensure that all management practices are appropriate to the concept of free-range egg production. Additionally processes will be in place to ensure that only eggs produced on an accredited farm are sold as accredited free-range eggs. This includes an audit trail for eggs delivered and bought in from other accredited farms.

Accredited farms will be entitled to use the logo of the Free Range Farmers Association and denoting genuine Free Range eggs on their cartons and packaging material. Benefit from publicity conducted by the association's promotion of the logo. For this reason only members of the Free Range Farmers Association may participate in the scheme.

The Inspector inspects the farm to the published code and form and recommends the farm with or without conditions. The Elected Committee approves the farm to the Inspectors recommendations and issues a dated certificate of currency. Where there is any difference between the Inspectors recommendations and the committee approval notice then the applicant is entitled to request a review by an independent panel drawn from other financial members having no pecuniary interest with the applicant’s produce. The independent panel’s decision is binding on all parties.
