Standards & Definitions- Victoria

Standards FRFA - Free Range Egg Production

This Association Accreditation Standard  continues the pre-deregulation  definition for Hens in the Free Range Environment.  The now rescinded Victoria Act promoted sustainable land use by a controlled range stocking density (hens/acre). The same definition by limiting flock densities gave "room to move" therein prohibited de-beaking.

Standards FRFA - Free Range Pullet Rearing

This Association Accreditation Standard promotes a method of chick and pullet rearing seen as essential to enabling development of pullet natural instincts towards their future as Hens in the Free Range Environment. Chicks must be ground reared (not on wire mesh) and allowed to range, forage and dust bathe in a predator protected environment as soon as fully feathered (age about 4 weeks).

Standards FRFA - Free Range Farm Accreditation

This Association Accreditation Standard defines its audited free range exclusive eggs produced/sold audit trail system. Within this certification the listed Accredited Farms eggs can be contained and distributed by an accredited farm.

Victoria prior to deregulation - Free Range Definition

Just in case you do not believe it - this was the simple one page (now rescinded) regulation which identified sustainable land use range stocking density and no bird mutilation (no de-beaking etc).
